Ancient Landscape

Inspired by traditional painting, science fiction, fantasy, book illustration and artificial intelligence. This is my first artwork made with the assistance of an art-focused artificial intelligence. It's created with GAN algorithms in the Art Breeder app.  After several days of trying to find the right combination of composition and colour I then did some basic colour correction without any editing or repainting.  The idea is to see how good the current tools are right now - and so far, I'd say I'm very inspired by the potential of this approach to creating anything from concept art to full formed artworks.

The artworks starts with just a random landscape which can then be modified very generally by tweaking many 'genes' or parameters. The main challenge is being able to spot a good composition and then wrangle the neural networks to create, more or less, the desired result. 

There is no direct control over any particular shape - but even if controlling a specific outcome is not easy or possible the unexpected visual results are often worth the wait.
